WHAT WE DO
What we do
Fundraising is more than chasing money. It is the work of making brilliant, community-led solutions impossible to ignore and giving funders a clear reason to say yes. Be Lumin helps organisations get clear on the story, strategy, and funder framing they need to raise money with confidence.
-
Before the proposal, pitch deck, or funder conversation, you need a clear story: what you do, why it matters, why now, why your team, and why someone should back it.
We help organisations sharpen their strategy, positioning, and fundraising priorities, so the work is easier to explain, easier to fund, and easier to adapt across different funders and opportunities.
This can include:
● Organisational strategy
● Core narrative and messaging
● Value proposition development
● Partnership strategy
● Funder fit and prioritisation
● Funding priorities and case development
● Opportunity assessment: what to pursue, pause, or leave
● Retainer-based leadership advisory and thought partnership
● Strategy reviews and fundraising readiness assessments
-
Once the strategy is clear, the work needs to become fundable. That means turning evidence, ambition, activities, budgets, and impact into a case funders can understand, believe in, and back.
We develop the proposals, pitches, narratives, and funder materials that help brilliant work become impossible to ignore. A strong proposal is not just well-written. It is well-argued.
This can include:
● Grant proposals and applications
● Concept notes and Cases for support
● Pitch decks
● Strategic briefs
● Letters of interest and expressions of interest
● Proposal reviews and red-teaming
● Budget development and narratives
● Partnership materials
● Board and leadership fundraising materials
-
Fundraising should not live in someone’s head, in an inbox, or on a post-it note. Strong fundraising needs simple systems: clear priorities, visible pipelines, good decision-making, and regular rhythms that help teams keep moving.
We help organisations make fundraising more focused, organised, and manageable, so they can spend less time reacting and more time building the right relationships, pursuing the right opportunities, and making better decisions.
This can include:
● CRM setup, clean-up, or improvement
● Funder pipeline development
● Fundraising dashboards
● KPIs and OKRs
● Internal workflows and team roles
● Decision-making processes
● Opportunity tracking and prioritisation tools
● Reporting systems
● Retainer-based fundraising operations support
● Templates, tools, and processes for repeated use
trusted by mission-driven teams across global health.
FUNDRAISING . STRATEGY . PROPOSALS
WAJAMAMA
More than $4.5 million secured with Be Lumin’s support
WAJAMAMA provides holistic reproductive healthcare in Zanzibar, including group care for women and families underserved by existing services. Since 2024, we have worked alongside its leadership to develop a targeted funder pipeline, shape compelling proposals, and pursue funding for its next stage of growth. Our partnership expanded into a strategy review across WAJAMAMA’s nonprofit and for-profit arms, clarifying its vision, positioning, and growth priorities, and exploring how grant funding and earned income could sustain its work. Throughout, we provided a close thinking partner for its founder on fundraising, team development, and organisational direction.

Zvandiri
More than $5.5 million secured with Be Lumin’s support
Zvandiri connects children and young people living with HIV with trained peer counsellors, working with governments to embed this care within public health systems. As an embedded advisory partner, we combine proposal development with strategic support for Zvandiri’s growth: sharpening its funding case, translating evidence into compelling narratives, and helping leadership prioritise opportunities for scale. We supported the transition to a dedicated in-house business development function and continue to work closely with its Head of BD. We have also helped articulate the framing around Thrive95, making the pathway to government adoption clearer for funders and partners.

D-tree
More than $8 million secured with Be Lumin’s support
D-tree works with governments to strengthen primary healthcare systems. Since 2024, we have combined hands-on proposal development with ongoing leadership advisory, helping sharpen fundraising priorities, manage key funder relationships, and build the systems behind a stronger funding pipeline. In 2025, we also facilitated D-tree’s team-led strategy process, helping clarify its distinctive contribution and translate that thinking into a clear narrative. We developed funder materials and internal communications to put the strategy to work, and continue to support its implementation.
WHAT CLIENTS SAY
What Clients Say
Our best work happens when we become a trusted thinking partner: close enough to understand the complexity, and clear enough to help others see the opportunity.

As founder and CEO of a young grassroots organization with extremely limited resources, no leadership teammates at the time, and a skeleton team trying to change the world, I desperately needed someone like Christie. I knew it the moment we met, and investing in her services was one of the best decisions I've made for WAJAMAMA. Christie became far more than a fundraising consultant—she was my thinking partner, a critical role I desperately needed as a solo founder. She was fully invested in our mission and vision, often feeling like an extension of our team rather than an outside consultant. Beyond fundraising support, Christie and her team helped refine our organizational strategy, communications, and content—efforts that directly contributed to securing funding, including our first catalytic grant, and ensuring our foundation was strong enough for funders to invest in us. Be Lumin was worth every single penny, and my only regret is not investing in more hours with them. We simply would not be where we are today without Christie and her team. Because of them, our future looks bright—rare for such a young organization.

Christie and her colleagues immediately grasped who we are, what we are trying to do and where we could be, and have expertly guided us with our strategy, scoping grant opportunities, writing, submitting and winning grant applications! Through virtual and in person work together, Be-Lumin have become vital partners in our organisational growth and development. I can’t recommend them more highly. – Nicola Willis, Founder and Executive Director, Zvandiri
Working with Christie has been a consistently positive experience. She brings a strategic mindset and strong communication skills to every project—both in writing and facilitation. Christie excels at synthesizing complex information into clear, well-structured deliverables and has a talent for breaking down overwhelming projects into manageable, actionable steps. What I particularly appreciate is her ability to understand funder perspectives while genuinely valuing our organization and our current stage of development. She has a strong fluency in global health and quickly gets up to speed on new contexts, then effectively applies and connects that knowledge across different projects. Christie creates clear processes and timelines that help teams stay aligned and focused on shared goals, and she's reliable and thoughtful in her approach. I'd recommend Christie for projects requiring strategic thinking, funder engagement, and clear communication—especially in global health contexts where understanding both organizational needs and funder expectations is critical.

I have to remind myself she is part time, given how responsive and productive she is. She’s been fully committed to our success and mission. She’s made us more organized and expanded our scope considerably. And she’s remarkably versatile with great intuition and a wide range of skills, and is also very willing to jump in and learn new things. She’s done everything from producing high-gloss outward-facing collateral to developing prototype digital solutions to interviewing stakeholders. I hope to work with Christie for a long time to come!.

About
Meet Christie Civetta
I founded Be Lumin because I kept seeing brilliant organisations doing work that funders should have been backing; but the story, strategy, or funding case was not yet clear enough to carry the ambition.
I bring more than a decade of experience across global health, partnerships, fundraising, and strategy, with a focus on helping mission-driven organisations move from complex work to clear, fundable propositions.
Our work is about helping teams get clear: on what they are building, why it matters, who should fund it, and how to make the case in a way that feels simple, credible, and compelling.
